Best Spanish Wines under $20

Whether it's a sparkling Cava, a refreshing Rueda or a finely aged Rioja there's lots of Spanish wines to choose from that are under $20. Here's some of my favourites.

2007 Anciano Gran Reserva Tempranillo - Valdepenas Spain (under $13)

I first bought this wine on sale for $11 and could not believe the quality of this Tempranillo at this price point. Grapes from 30 year old vines and oak matured for 7 years. It's dark, rich full of raspberry flavours with some vanilla and refined tannins that give it a smooth finish. A really good wine at a good value.

2014 Marques de Riscal  - Rueda Spain (under $13)

A really versatile wine for many occasions. It's 100% Verdejo grapes which gives it a very aromatic tropical aroma. The wine is refreshing but at the same time it has a slight oily texture that gives it a smooth finish with only a slight bitterness at the end. This wine pairs well with baked ham or seafood.

2011 Torres Gran Coronas Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon - Penedes Spain (under $20)

A big bold Cabernet Sauvignon from eastern Spain in the Penedes region with all of the bold flavours of a well aged Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins are nicely refined and it has a long dark fruit finish.
