Enjoy !
Food pairings - Zinfandel pairs well with most BBQ beef and pork dishes as well as being just a great party wine.
Again. These are not in any particular order and check this list often as I will be adding more Zin's that make the best of the best list.
2012 Brazin B(Old) Vine Zinfandel - Lodi, California
Dark red and full of aromas like cedar, spice and dark fruit. Rich jammy flavours like blackberry and cassis.
Price - under $20 (LCBO Vintages 256750)
Perfect BBQ wine !
2012 Cline Ancient Vines Zinfandel - Contra Coast County, California
Yes I know. This Zinfandel is not under $20. It's only two bucks over the limit but I like this wine a lot more than the regular Cline Zinfandel which sells for under twenty bones and is not nearly as good. The fruit flavour in the ancient Vine Zin is much darker and fuller and it has a nice smokiness to it.
Price - under $22 (LCBO Vintages 719211)
This wine paired very well with pulled pork sandwiches.
2010 Renwood Old Vine Zinfandel - Dry Creek Valley, California
Fantastic old vine Zinfandel from Amador County. A bold rich Zin with deep dark rich flavours of blackberry and cocoa with jammy aromas.
Price - under $20 (LCBO Vintages - 425504)
2008 Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel - Lodi California
Dude ! This gnarly Zin has aromas of dark cherry, cedar, smoke and some pepper. Big and bold flavours of cherries and dark chocolate with tannins that are quite pronounced. This wine nicely goes with a pepperoni pizza or beef fajitas.
Price - under $18 (LCBO)
2010 Bonterra Zinfandel - Mendocino County California
A another big rich Zinfandel from an organic vineyard on the northern coast of California. Deep dark colour and a dark berry fruit flavour with aromas of spice and tobacco coupled with the 14.5% ABV give this Zin a full bodied feel. Tannins are present but more subtle. A nice full bodied Zinfandel to be served with BBQ beef ribs or burgers
Price - $17 (LCBO)
2009 Ravenswood Old Vine Zinfandel - Lodi California
You can't go wrong here. This is a great wine to bring to a party or BBQ. It's rich and full with aromas of dark fruit, spice and some smokiness. The flavours of this Zinfandel are the real seller with jammy dark fruits like blackberry and currants. A great sipping wine.
Price - under $20 (LCBO)
2012 Paso Creek Zinfandel - Paso Robles California
A good buy at under $20. Rich and full Zinfandel with lots of fruit and a long finish.
Price - under $20 LCBO Vintages (279810)
